Thirty Paintings in Thirty Days Challenge

Happy New Year

This is my New Year resolution: to paint daily and post new paintings on my blog a few times a week.  One way for me to get off to a good start is to join Leslie Saeta's " 30 Paintings in 30 days" challenge.
Of course the paintings are smaller (mine will mostly be 8" x 6") and at first I will paint chickens.  Why chickens?  I actually have 3 chickens, once enjoyed for the eggs they produced, but now they are mainly pets.  Whenever I find myself hitting a creative block or need an uplifting in mood, I paint chickens.  After all, who can resist smiling at those cute animals.
I am still on my holiday travels with my husband.  Since December 23, we have been visiting my younger son and his family in Colorado Springs.  We will leave Friday for Santa Fe and on Saturday, arrive home in El Paso.  I have painted daily in Colorado and think I should be able to meet the 30 Day Challenge.

My First Blog

A few weeks ago, I participated in an Art Show and Sale with 14 friends I’ve been painting with for several years.  We had several hundred people attend in a great venue.  While i was pleased with my sales, I was struck by the many different styles I displayed.  The only constant was color!
I talked to my friend and mentor, Julie Ford Oliver, about the problem and she readily agreed with me.  She suggested two things: one, to start blogging and two, to join the 30 Day Challenge with Leslie Saeta.
So, here is my attempt at blogging.  I plan to post these on my DPW gallery while also posting to the 30 day challenge starting in January.
